Douglas E. Noll, JD, MA left a successful career as a trial lawyer to become a peacemaker. His calling is to serve humanity, and he executes his calling at many levels. He is an award-winning author, dynamic and inspirational speaker, teacher, and trainer. Doug’s work carries him from international work to helping people resolve deep intra-personal and ideological conflicts. His many honors include California Lawyer of the Year in 2012, Lawyer of the Year in 2014 (bestlawyers.com), and Encore Fellow in 2014 (encore.org).

20141121151629_CPR_Award-EP_Cover_copyDoug Noll is a full-time mediator and peacemaker engaged to work in intractable and seemingly impossible conflicts. As a lawyer turned peacemaker, he is AV-rated, the highest rating a lawyer can receive. He was a business and commercial trial lawyer for 22 years before turning to peacemaking. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and on the American Arbitration Association panel of mediators and arbitrators.Doug was one of the first U.S. mediators certified under the international mediator standards established by the International Mediation Institute. He is listed in the Who’s Who of International Commercial Mediators and has been named as Lawyer of the Year in 2014 by Best Lawyers in America (www.bestlawyers.com). Doug was honored as an Encore Fellow in 2014 by encore.org for his prison work.

Along with his colleague Laurel Kaufer, Doug was honored by California Lawyer Magazine as California Attorneys of the Year in 2012 for their pro bono Prison of Peace project. He is the creator of Negotiation Mastery for the Legal Pro, an on-line legal negotiation training course, Negotiate a Centered Life, an on-line life skills and relationship course, and is author of the book Elusive Peace: How Modern Diplomatic Strategies Could Better Resolve World Conflicts (Prometheus Books, April 2011), winner of the Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) International Peace and Justice Book Award for 2011. In addition, Doug is the author of Sex, Politics & Religion at the Office: The New Competitive Advantage (Auberry Press 2006), with John Boogaert, and Peacemaking: Practicing at the Intersection of Law and Human Conflict (Cascadia 2002) and, numerous articles on peacemaking, restorative justice, conflict resolution and mediation.

Doug has been voted as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2005, by US News & World Report and has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer. Doug is host of the radio show The Doug Noll Show that streams live on wsRadio.com Thursday evenings at 7 pm Pacific. Doug is an adjunct professor of law at San Joaquin College of Law, a core faculty member of the American Institute of Mediation, an adjunct faculty member of the Pepperdine School of Law Straus Institute and a faculty member of its Professional Skills Development Program, and serves as a speaker, teacher, lecturer, and workshop presenter nationally and internationally.
